Overwatch
by HamiltonJet
Overwatch by Hamilton Jet is a state-of-the-art fleet management platform
that enhances maritime operations through real-time monitoring, predictive
maintenance, and optimised routing. It supports multi-screen setups for
detailed monitoring and promotes eco-friendly practices by optimising
fuel consumption. The platform provides advanced insights into vessel
performance and serves various market segments, including ferry operations
and offshore support. The system incorporates several technological
innovations, including an on-board recording device that captures driveline
control signals and records NMEA2000 signals and AIS transponder data.
This information is securely transmitted to the cloud, offering users a near-live experience.
Hamilton Jet data engineering achieving new levels of operational efficiency, safety and reliability
The Project
The project team works side-by-side with the client to ensure product functionality, marketability and usability are resolved through proof of concept prototypes. These are tested and refined to ensure all aspects of the solution are understood, key risks are identified and project goals are achieved.
THINK
InFacts full-stack software engineers worked closely with Hamilton Jet engineers and service teams to develop a specific set of requirements. By implementing an initial trial platform, early assessment of customer need was assessed to understand potential value propositions and to engage customers in the opportunity.
The development programme included the integration of a wide array of jet parameters and to bring these comprehensive data sets over 4G into a customised Azure cloud backend. The test environment was then transitioned into a production release where feature updates and improved performance continue to be supported. Real-world scenarios are being assessed ongoing to build end user engagement and value.

LISTEN
Hamilton Jet recognised the need for a comprehensive fleet management platform to enhance the operational safety, reliability and efficiency of maritime vessels and to maintain its leadership position in the industry. This system was to enable primarily remote vessel diagnostics and volume engineering data capture for propulsion system refinement.
InFact collaborated intensively over several years to create and engineer a management system to be deployed globally onto customer vessels, oversee the performance and bring operational data to its Azure cloud backend.
This scalable platform with an extensive user interface would provide real-time information and analytics for a wide range of stakeholders. These included skippers, fleet operators and Hamilton Jet engineering teams.

OUTCOME
Overwatch has become an essential tool in daily operations for many customers like, for example, WhaleWatch Kaikoura. It is delivering significant improvements in monitoring and management of both the vessel fleet and of their operators. Hamilton Jet’s propulsion systems team has begun using these comprehensive data sets to diagnose performance and reliability issues. Ongoing enhancements to the system include support for the production UI and user feature implementations. These provide more comprehensive insights into vessel dynamics, helping Hamilton Jet customers optimise their operations and improve safety while reducing costs.
