Hitman HM220i Cloud and Sync

by Fibre-Gen

The Hitman Cloud and Sync App was created to enable HM220i log data files to sync securely and remotely from a harvest site or log yard to a customer's harvest management platform. Forest companies can now see how wood properties are trending during harvest operations for value and efficiency-based decision making.

The Hitman Sync App can be downloaded from Google Play and Apple Stores and opened on a mobile device. The App enables operators to change settings on the tool and to upload and connect via an API to their operations.

Connecting Hitman enables remote users to send real-time data for value- based decisions

The Project

The project team works side-by-side with the client to ensure product functionality, marketability and usability are resolved through proof of concept prototypes. These are tested and refined to ensure all aspects of the solution are understood, key risks are identified and project goals are achieved.

THINK

InFact’s full-stack software development team has a strong capability in connecting ruggedised technology devices. They are experienced in overcoming the challenges involved in this space to ensure secure and reliable data transfer from forest to cloud. As mobile phones are now used extensively in these environments, InFact created a HM220i connection via Bluetooth. Two-way communications enable tool setting updates and allow for initiation of data exports via email.

This system architecture provides a platform for future expansion, with over-the-air firmware updates and tool diagnostics in the near-future pipeline.
InFact built an initial test App and released it to early adopters to evaluate performance, debug and importantly assess the value benefit to customers.

LISTEN

Fibre-gen recognised the growing need for data driven decision making in harvest operations. To achieve this, Fibre-gen and InFact embarked on connecting the HM220i to the cloud for three main purposes:

1. Provide forest managers with real-time harvest site data for their Forest Management Platform to support better value-based outcomes.

2. Integrate with Forest Management Platforms to increase the value of this system and create a new market channel for Fibre-gen

3. Develop new features which enable value add for operators that can be delivered via the mobile App.

OUTCOME

Hitman’s Cloud and Sync App is transforming harvest operations by enabling decisions within hours instead of days, critical when a significant amount of forest value is at stake.

Since launch, Fibre-gen has joined two five-year EU Horizons trials with CNR in Italy, focussed on forest wood value integration. With the first phase complete, the trials are now expanding to other regions. The Sync App plays a key role by automatically syncing data from multiple sites via API into a single source for large-scale analysis.

The HM220i inherits its predecessor’s pedigree, but redefines how we get results to where they are most valuable. It’s not just a tool, it’s a leap forward in how we deliver more value to our clients.
