$10M Wellcome Leap SAVE Funds NZ’s Diagnostic MedTech Breakthrough

Wellcome Leap SAVE funded $10m of NZ MedTech R&D, the culmination being Team Windsor, headed by Professors Dr John Windsor and Dr Anthony Philips at UoA, demonstrating three years of clinical studies and deep technology development in Edinburgh.

Dr Willy Wang and the lab team at UoA developed the science over a 12-year period enabling a diagnostic device and its low-cost consumable to be developed by InFact Innovation and Paul Roberts, measuring post-operative stress in patients. This internationally contested fund focuses on MedTech which can scale into nations of the global south.
