G5 Payment Terminal

Provenco's G5 was the first chip card-certified outdoor payment terminal in the world and created the opportunity for Provenco to sell payment solutions internationally. PETRONAS, Provenco’s premium client, required a high-end environmentally resilient payment terminal for their network of fuel outlets to meet new security laws introduced in Malaysia, January 2005. inFact developed the product's innovative security systems to meet the new standards and introduced a revolutionary new in-mould film used in automotive applications. This created a seal-less lens and screen-printable aesthetic which is protected against petro-chemicals and UV.

Over 10,000 Invenco G5 OPTs are installed in pay@pump mode throughout PDB’s network. The Invenco EPS and multi-acquirer Payments Switch now process approximately 1 million fuel transactions daily. The success in the Plastic Industry Design Awards followed on from the accolade when the Provenco G5 outdoor payment terminal received a Highly Commended Award at the Design Industry of New Zealand BestDesign Awards.

The aesthetics of the in-mould decoration and the design ability to integrate the lens into the single moulding are important factors in the sales success of the outdoor payment terminal to international corporate customers

The Project

The project team works side-by-side with the client to ensure product functionality, marketability and usability are resolved through proof of concept prototypes. These are tested and refined to ensure all aspects of the solution are understood, key risks are identified and project goals are achieved.

THINK

inFact started working with Provenco in 1999 developing concepts to establish early market requirements for the G5 OPT.

Working closely with Provenco's expert team of developers, inFact developed product technology that met build cost and reliability targets and provided a platform for the ongoing development of a range of new products.

The many firsts for this product included tamper proof enclosures and hardware modules, pin pad security, in-mould technology for protection against toluene, scratch and UV and a modular system for customer sales.

LISTEN

Provenco engaged inFact in 1999 to create a new payment technology platform that would meet the growing demand for EMV compliant low total cost of ownership products.

Provenco Retail Automation wanted a terminal that was both functional and capable of displaying a uniqueness in it’s design to provide a point of difference.

OUTCOME

inFact completed development of the G5 OPT terminal in just under a year, working in close collaboration with Provenco, Talbot Plastics and GPC.

The partnership provided ongoing support and customisation of this technology for new customers.

Already incumbent with the Payments Switch and Electronic Payment Systems, Invenco, (formerly Provenco), was able to offer a fully integrated tank-to-bank system meeting all of Petronas’ requirements which none of their competitors could match.

Talbot Plastics won the 2004 Plastics Industry Design Awards Supreme Award for the POS Terminal Fascia.
