CHS Metro

Project Objectives

Cash Handling Systems Ltd wanted to create a next generation parking meter that met the needs of all users in the value chain, and would be suitable for manufacturing and selling to international markets.

Our Approach

InFact collaborated with CHS to understand the market opportunity and the needs of all those who would interact with Metro. The team then ran a design process that identified the key features and technology that would make Metro a success, and took this from concept design to production implementation.

The InFact team were responsible for all aspects of the development, including aesthetics and usability, mechanical design, system architecture and software engineering. We collaborated with sub-contract manufacturers to implement production, and provided a turnkey product ready for the street.

Outcomes

Ten months later the first 600 Metro’s were installed on Christchurch streets, and have now spread to cities across Australasia, handling millions of transactions every year.  The CHS Metro has been recognised with a Silver Best Award, and a Good Design Award.
